Operators of incinerators and co-incinerators as defined by the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED)(2010/75/EU), must make arrangements for the availability of back-up monitoring equipment.
If the continuous emissions monitoring system (cems) is not available for a period greater than four hours, the operator must use alternative monitoring for all parameters. If alternative monitoring is not available then loading of waste must cease. Alternative monitoring is defined as a substitute for the permitted cems, where the alternative monitoring meets at least the same quality requirements as the installed cems.
A less expensive alternative is to use a transportable MCERTS approved FTIR analyser - the Gasmet DX4000, which employs exactly the same analyser as the Gasmet cems.
